QuakeWorld player/server querying gateway

Welcome to the QuakeWorld querying gateway! written by Adam Spiers

NEW!This gateway is now using the new 2.0b version of qstat which hopefully never segfaults or gets caught in an infinite loop.NEW!

I just realised that I never thanked Steve Harvey for the cool little title picture he made for me to put on this page. Duh! Thanks a lot, Steve, and sorry I'm so rude it took me months to say that!

This gateway will probably be more useful to people closer to the UK because the pinging of servers is done from the web server that these pages come from, and it is situated in the UK. However, anyone is welcome to use it. You may find it handy if you need a Qplug equivalent that will run on any browser, irrespective of whether it has Qplug or not.

Please note that this gateway only supports QuakeWorld 2.0 and later.

One final comment: if this page gets too many hits, I'll have to limit it to UK only. Sorry :-(

Choose one of the following:

Note that you can use this gateway to include a query of a server from your own WWW pages; just include a link of the form:

http://www.new.ox.ac.uk/~adam/cgi-bin/qwserv.cgi?server=aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd&port=xxxxx

Similarly, you can include on your own pages a link to search for a particular player:

http://www.new.ox.ac.uk/~adam/cgi-bin/psearch.cgi?name=xxxxxxxx&server=aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd:yyyyy

If enough people e-mail me asking for it, I will provide another service whereby you can poll a master, and obtain a sorted list of all players currently on all servers attached to that master. Each player would be hyperlinked to a query of the server they're on, as in the result of the individual server query above.

Other points of possible interest:

All comments/suggestions (and especially more fancy HTML/graphics for the page) welcome.

Thanks to Steve Jankowski for writing Qstat.
